Fishing has been really good lately and I think it’s still got some room to get better. We are having nice bursts of activity around sunrise/sunset and of course the moon activity too. Fish are active in small windows though, so you better know where to be. I’ve had days where we are moving 1, 2 or maybe zero fish, but then when the window opens… we bag 2 or 3.
The other day I had new clients Brett and Pete out with me and we had one of these days. We had seen only a few fish all morning so we took a break. We hit the water again at about 5 in the afternoon. We had a fairly uneventful evening, but once it got dark the fish went nuts….
Brett hooked his first musky, this beautiful 50″
Just a few moments after releasing this monster, I hooked another monster. I brought the fish in and as it sat right by the boat shaking it’s head violently, Brett provided a perfect net job. The bait popped out right as it hit the net and I proceeded to remove the bait from the net as the fish sat safely in the bottom of the net. Pete and Brett meanwhile were yelling things like “this one is bigger than the last one” or “THIS one is huge”. So I was excited to get a pic and put her on the measuring stick…right? Well, as I stood up to with the net handle in my hand to direct the guys to find my camera, the monster fish somehow very sneaky and silently slipped out of the net!! My almost sure 50″ was gone just like that. @#$&!!!!!
So what did we do?? We went to the next spot and Pete caught his new Personal best…
Had a great time Brett and Pete… Nice job out there!
Here’s a few other recent ones…
